When I saw online the news about the guy that was charged for more than USD 80,000 I immediately thought there must be another way. Although there are plans of texting people for a monthly fee, you still have to pay for those fees nonetheless. So I remembered the only thing that could connect me to other people without paying too much: two way radios. Although it has been ages since I had one, I have to get one so that I could slash off the bill not only by tens, but by hundreds.If you’re born in the age of texting, do not hesitate to take on two-way radios. Although it doesn’t have features such as texting or wifi connection, two way radios are powerful enough for us to communicate with our dear ones without paying a single cent. Once you have bought two gadgets, you now have unlimited number of hours of communication. You don’t even have to text as you call them right from the two way radio.
There are two types of two way radios: the GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) and the FRS (Family Radio Service). The GMRS are a little bit expensive compared to FRS since they have the capacity to reach five to seven miles. However, you need to file an FCC form before you can actually use the GMRS type two way radio. On the other hand, FRS has only the capacity to reach two miles but it doesn’t really cost much compared to GMRS. No FCC required and once you purchased this type of two way radio, you can immediately use this right out of the box.
If you think you’ll have a very hard time filing for the GMRS, don’t. These are just formalities but I think it’s a way of monitoring who can hear more since the two-way radio of GMRS has more capacity compared to an FRS.
Aside from being a GMRS type of a two way radio, get an additional feature for vibration. This is an ideal feature since you’ll never have to hear a broadcasted message for you really out loud. When you are in the mall, instead of listening to your two-way out loud, this vibrating function will make sure you do not miss a single call.
I personally suggest that you purchase a GMRS since a two-mile FRS will never work if you are in the city because of all the interference. Although you may have to pay a little bit more but it could work for at least three miles even with all the interference. The five to seven mile capacity is only good when you are in an open field with no walls or buildings between you.
When you purchase these mobile gadgets, be sure to use this for simple call or talk functions only. Two-way radios could be accessed and listened to by anyone who also has a two way radio. That is why a pseudonym is always essential so that you can anonymously talk with each other on the radio.
